Patient Frequently Asked Questions

What does the name iTero mean?

iTero is derived from the Latin word itero, to repeat. The name reflects the ability of the iTero system to exactly replicate great results, time and time again.

I suffer from anxiety when it comes to dental visits. Should I be concerned about getting an iTero impression?

Not at all. Patient studies show iTero scans are more comfortable and faster than the conventional impression method. In fact, there is far less “going on” in the patient’s mouth with an iTero scan than the conventional method. There is no messy putty or need to wait for the material to set. The average iTero scan clocks in at a tidy three to five minutes. And, unlike the conventional approach, you and your dentist can rest in the middle of the digital impression process.

Why would my dentist choose an iTero digital impression over the conventional impression method?

In a word, precision! The iTero digital impression is much more accurate than a conventional impression. As a result, adjustments are almost non-existent when it comes time to cement your crown or bridge in place.

I just had an iTero scan done and can’t believe how much easier it was than the old way! Why didn’t my dentist have access to this technology sooner?

Almost a decade of research and development went into the creation of iTero. Cadent worked hard to get it right and we stand 100% behind the technology. We did not want to release it to the public until it was absolutely, positively, perfect.
